Our Breeding Program
Our breeding program is designed to produce Boykin Spaniels that are healthy, happy, and well-adjusted. We carefully select our breeding pairs based on a variety of factors, including health, temperament, and DNA testing. Our Boykin’s are raised inside a loving and nurturing environment, getting used to sounds and smells of everyday life. We take great care to ensure that they receive the best possible care and socialization. For the first week of their life Theresa sleeps in the whelping room to ensure their safety. The puppies are never left unattended longer than 2 hours and our constantly monitored with a puppy camera.
Boykin Spaniel History
The Boykin spaniel was first bred by South Carolina hunters during the 1900’s to provide the ideal dog for hunting ducks and wild turkeys in the Wateree River Swamp. Hunters on South Carolina‘s Wateree River needed a small rugged dog compactly built for boat travel and able to retrieve on land and water. In 1977 The Boykin Spaniel Society was founded and in 1984 South Carolina governor Richard Riley, proclaimed the Boykin Spaniel the state dog.
